Today I finished my Merry Cox piece, Birds & Berries. And I have to say, I´m really pleased how it came along. I really love it. It has a little an "antique look",  which I love so much on needlworks.

This was the first Merry Cox design I finished, but I definitely have to start another soon!!

I finely made my decision what I will stitch for the Stitching Bloggers Redwork Exchange. I will stitch with DMC 814 and I choose my fabric (ivory 32count Belfast linen) and I bought some Austrian "Dirndl" fabric for the finishing, and I´ll stitch for...............that´s a secret till November :-)!!

I think I know which pattern I´ll stitch and how I´ll do the finishing. Hope the recipient will like it!

Yesterday I found some time to start the finishing on the Merry Cox Birds & Berries sewingcase. I finished the case and now I only have to do the little pocket inside and have to sew on the linen for the needlecase pages.

I´m a person who keeps all and everything *lol*. Now I know why I kept the about 100 years old handwoven bed linen from my grandmothers sleeping room. I´m really happy, because it´s the perfect antique linen for the needlecase pages.

I just finished my stitching on the Merry Cox Birds & Berries sewing case. Now will come the finishing part. I´m happy that I found the perfect dupion silk for lining in my local fabric store. The colour really goes beautiful with the stitching.

Today I tried to count my WIPs. I´m now up to 20 WIPs (if I found all of them :-).

I really have to organize my WIPs. I have to find a strategy to not  become too overwhelmed with all my stitchings.

First I put all my projects for exchanges and gifts in a special bag. I usually don´t like to stitch for datelines, so I always try to finish my stitching for exchanges far before the mailing date.

I have to finish project for the Freebie Exchange. I finished the stitching, but I have to do the finishing which will take some time. The mailing date is September 19th, so I think it will be no problem to finish it in the next two weeks.

Then I have to start my stitching for the Redwork Exchange on the Stitching Blogger Exchange BB. Mailing date is November 1th, so I have some time. I think I know what I´ll stitch and how I´ll so the finishing.

And I have to stitch my Birthday gift for my Birthday Buddy for December. I´m working on it right now, so it should be finished right in time.

Now it looks like it will be feasible. The only thing, I have to try to start no new projects. So my Biedermeier Sampler has to wait till next  year.

I want to finish Merry Cox Birds&Berries for myself. I´m close to finish the stitching, so this will be my focus project. And maybe I will start the House Huswif challenge from the UK TSG. It´s such a fun project. Several designers design a seasonal Huswif. Only the pattern, without instructions for stitches and no color code. So the huswif will become an unique piece for all participants.

And when I looke for my WIPs, I found the Sandy Orton English Bandsampler. I put only a few stitches in it. I totally forgot about it. I kitted it up with Vikki Clayton silks. I loved this sampler the first time I saw it.

And here my very, very few progress!!

So my strategy,

-I´ll stitch on my exchanges -

- I´ll finish B&B -

- I´ll stitch on the English Bandsampler -

- and maybe start the House Huswif -

After stitching a lot of smalls, I´m now in the mood to start some samplers. I was looking through our house, and now I found a perfect place to create a sampler wall. I´m always admiring Dianes "Sampler Cove" http://sampler-cove.com.hosting.domaindirect.com/imagelib/sitebuilder/misc/show_image.html?linkedwidth=actual&linkpath=http://www.sampler-cove.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/Sampler_Cove.jpg  I think she knows that she´s my great inspiration and motivation. And now I want to make a sampler wall of my own.

Yesterday I was looking through my really big sampler chart collection, but I need one which is about 12x40 inch long. I just was on the way to order a new chart, but now I think I´ll create one by my own. I did this several years ago. I have a great collection of antique samplers and Biedermeier patterns (patterns of the 19th century Vienna) and in 1984- 1986 I created a sampler with this patterns. This was my first finished sampler. And it´s an unique piece.

Now I´ll try to do this a second time. I think I´ll stitch on 32 count sandstone linen. On this fabric I can do some tent stitch too. And this time I think I´ll use some more muted colors.Wish me luck that it will work again, and I´ll post progress pictures!

I´m always admiring those beautiful stitching rooms of my stitching friends. Really great to have such a room. I don´t have a stitching room, so I created a  little "stitching corner" to display my stitching smalls which I stitched and got from stitching friends in exchanges and as gifts.

Just I received my Ackworth diary and pattern book!  The diary is wonderful and also the pattern book is just great! I think I´ll use it as a stitching diary to record my stitching for the next three years.

Today I got my package with my summer exchange from Ann in US. She stitched for me a lovely  design "Summer Spot" by Trilogy. And she included some great magazines and wonderful Old Willow threads in muted colours. I just was on the way to order this CC magazine with the Fancy Work Quaker sewing kit inside.  Great timing!!!
