Is there any better time of the year than spring??
And is there any greater artist in the world than nature??
Not for me!
I love spring when everything is growing.
There are only a few days when the the shrub at our entrance is blooming like you can see on the picture. I really enjoy every minute of this time and wish you all a happy spring time!

Whenever I'm on vacation I love visiting old castles, cloisters, etc. I love viewing the old buildings and I always get a lot of inspirations in colors and shapes for my stitching.

There are a lot of historical sights nearby my hometown which I never have visited. Maybe you know - the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

I started with a short trip to a barock abby and want to share with you some pictures I have taken.

I'm storing a lot of old linen on our attic. Mostly old handwoven bed sheets from my grandmother and my great grandmother. This linen is surely more than hundred years old and it's perfect for working old samplers in a higher count on it.
Just I was looking for some linen for a new project and discovered a lot of old embroidered ribbons I didn't know.
They have a funny antique spelling for a lot of clothes, like underwear, stockings, dustcloth, bed jackets, towels, shirts, ..........etc.
I really like them and now I'm looking for an idea to display them.

I just came home from our annual trip to Vienna.
Every year I spend a long "girls weekend" with my two daughters in Vienna.

I love those days! We always have fine dinners, go to  theatres and museums and certainly do a lot of shopping.

Here are some impressions of these eventfull days.
On the picture we are on the top of one of the towers of St. Stephen's Cathedrale, where you have a wonderful view over the city of Vienna.

And there's also an inside view of St. Stephen's Cathedrale and my two daughters infront of it.

We always have so much fun and I'm already looking forward to the next "girls weekend"!

Just want to do a little update on my blog what's going on in this part of the world in November!

First I'm busily stitching on the model of a new big sampler. I have collected so much old stitchings and the alphabets and borders slowly become faded more and more. I really want to preserve them for the future so I'm working on a new design with this traditional letters. I think it will be called "My Grandmother's Favourite Letters". Will tell you more about it in the near future.

But as all of us, I really needed a little finish. So I pulled out my WIPs and looked what will be easily finished. I choose Merry Cox "Birds and Berries pin keep". I have finished the stitching for the Birds and Berries companion pieces last year, but never was in the mood to do the finishing. Now here's the little Birds and Berries pin keep finished!!

This tiny pin keeps are really lovely!
I have stitched several pin keeps for gifts or exchanges, but never had done one for myself.
Just I got the idea for drawing some designs for such pin keeps, let's see maybe you will see more of them in the near future!
But first I have to finish the Birds and Berries scissors holder so that the pieces are complete!

And last but not least I want share with you a wonderful finish by Dany in France, she finished Marlene's Sampler
and she really did a wonderful job on stitching and framing. Isn't that frame just perfect for this design?
I really love the way she finished it! I always love visiting her blog, she's doing such wonderful work!
And just I got the permission from Dany to put a picture of her wonderful finish and framing also on my blog, isn't it lovely?

In the week around the 18th of August there are a lot of celebrations in our little hometown. There is one festivity after the other and at the moment I'm really happy that slowly live becomes a little more relaxed.

Here's a picture of my elder DD and me in the front, behind us there are two actors which are walking during our home town the whole day.
We are wearing one of our "Dirndls" which is an traditional cloth in Austria and very practical. You can wear it for work, for festivities, for excursions or theatre and you are always well dressed.

But now I'm happy to go on vacation for some days and can change it for bikinies and shorts and light dresses!

See you soon again!!!

I always was admiring the handsewn bags I saw on the web. Especially the French stichers make such lovely things with stitching and sewing bags. I always wanted to do one by myself.
Maybe as you know my sewing machine isn't my best friend, but I gave it a try again.
Yesterday I found some time for a try out. I took the little sheperdess sampler I just finished and tried to make a little bag.
And believe it or not this time it really worked well. Looks like I slowly will become able to sew a straight line. I did all the sewing on this little try out the same way as I want to finish a bigger bag in the future with lining and such things.
So here you can see my first bag made by myself!

Today a little update on my stitching!

I did a little progress on Three Pink Houses by Ewe&Eye&Friends, I'm doing in the EEF SAL. I really like how it comes along and I really like this SAL with so much great stitchers. So I'm just thinking of which EEF design to start next.

Next week I'll get back my Austrian Sampler  from the framer.I'm looking forward to this. After my family saw the sampler finished, they started to motivate me to publish it. They continuously ask me if I finally have charted it. It's almost charted, but only for my personal use. But now I finally painted an alphabete for personalizing it, and now I have to write the instructions. Not really my favourite work. And at the moment I'm a little lazy in doing this. I love to stitch and I love to design, but only when I'm really in the mood to do this.

At the moment I'm more in the mood to start new things. Maybe some of you know this. My little DD asked me to create a sampler especially for her, and as there are lot of ideas in my head I started to do this. I want to design a little coloured sampler. I'm thinking of maybe stitching with Old Willow threads. I like their muted colours and it looks like I have some of them in my stash, hopefully there are the right colours. Maybe I'll combine them with DMC. Have to try this.

And I started a new WIP. I started Bo-Peep by La -D -Da. I always likeed this design, and I had it in my stash for a long time. I'm working on 40 count linen and here's a picture of my start.

And I finished the Mary Beale Sheperdess. It's stitched on 36 count flax linen with DMC threads. For the year I added the year when I was born, and I was totally horrified when I realized that I'll become  50 next year. Really unbelievably!!!!
I just was 40 a few time ago and was feeling like 30. Now I'll become 50 and I'm still feeling like 30. Time really flys. Now I have to decide how to finish it.

But it looks like I'm not really in the mood for finishing.
As I told you, I'm more in the mood of a new start. Maybe a Blackbird Design???? I have some in my stash but never stitched one of them. Maybe I'll show you another newstart soon.

Wish you all a great weekend!!

After I saw Su's lovely Mary Beale sampler finished on her blog, I had to pull out my Mary Beale charts imediately and I had to start a little of her designs. I chose this little sampler and I'm stitching it on 36 count Flax Edinburg linen.
I really like this little shepherdress on the top and I think I have an idea how I'll finish it. Let's see if this will work.

Some days ago I got thís Spread The Love Award from Barbara
I really was honored and delighted. It's always nice to hear that other wonderful stitchers are reading my blog, and maybe will get some inspirations.

But now it's my turn, to pass this award to another blogger.
That's really a very hard decision. There are so many beautiful blogs, I read regularly. And I learn so much from other stitching blogs and I get so much inspirations. I think I could list about 20 which I would love to pass this award further.

But as I have to decide vor one, I thought I will give it to Vero M
I know she and her blog are well known in the "stitching world", but her blog was the first stitching blog I discovered, and she was the person who inspirated me to start a blog also! And she's such a kind and helpful stitching friend.
So I'll pass this award to Vero M and her
