I always was admiring the handsewn bags I saw on the web. Especially the French stichers make such lovely things with stitching and sewing bags. I always wanted to do one by myself.
Maybe as you know my sewing machine isn't my best friend, but I gave it a try again.
Yesterday I found some time for a try out. I took the little sheperdess sampler I just finished and tried to make a little bag.
And believe it or not this time it really worked well. Looks like I slowly will become able to sew a straight line. I did all the sewing on this little try out the same way as I want to finish a bigger bag in the future with lining and such things.
So here you can see my first bag made by myself!

Today a little update on my stitching!

I did a little progress on Three Pink Houses by Ewe&Eye&Friends, I'm doing in the EEF SAL. I really like how it comes along and I really like this SAL with so much great stitchers. So I'm just thinking of which EEF design to start next.

Next week I'll get back my Austrian Sampler  from the framer.I'm looking forward to this. After my family saw the sampler finished, they started to motivate me to publish it. They continuously ask me if I finally have charted it. It's almost charted, but only for my personal use. But now I finally painted an alphabete for personalizing it, and now I have to write the instructions. Not really my favourite work. And at the moment I'm a little lazy in doing this. I love to stitch and I love to design, but only when I'm really in the mood to do this.

At the moment I'm more in the mood to start new things. Maybe some of you know this. My little DD asked me to create a sampler especially for her, and as there are lot of ideas in my head I started to do this. I want to design a little coloured sampler. I'm thinking of maybe stitching with Old Willow threads. I like their muted colours and it looks like I have some of them in my stash, hopefully there are the right colours. Maybe I'll combine them with DMC. Have to try this.

And I started a new WIP. I started Bo-Peep by La -D -Da. I always likeed this design, and I had it in my stash for a long time. I'm working on 40 count linen and here's a picture of my start.

And I finished the Mary Beale Sheperdess. It's stitched on 36 count flax linen with DMC threads. For the year I added the year when I was born, and I was totally horrified when I realized that I'll become  50 next year. Really unbelievably!!!!
I just was 40 a few time ago and was feeling like 30. Now I'll become 50 and I'm still feeling like 30. Time really flys. Now I have to decide how to finish it.

But it looks like I'm not really in the mood for finishing.
As I told you, I'm more in the mood of a new start. Maybe a Blackbird Design???? I have some in my stash but never stitched one of them. Maybe I'll show you another newstart soon.

Wish you all a great weekend!!

After I saw Su's lovely Mary Beale sampler finished on her blog, I had to pull out my Mary Beale charts imediately and I had to start a little of her designs. I chose this little sampler and I'm stitching it on 36 count Flax Edinburg linen.
I really like this little shepherdress on the top and I think I have an idea how I'll finish it. Let's see if this will work.

Some days ago I got thís Spread The Love Award from Barbara http://handgemachtes.blogspot.com/
I really was honored and delighted. It's always nice to hear that other wonderful stitchers are reading my blog, and maybe will get some inspirations.

But now it's my turn, to pass this award to another blogger.
That's really a very hard decision. There are so many beautiful blogs, I read regularly. And I learn so much from other stitching blogs and I get so much inspirations. I think I could list about 20 which I would love to pass this award further.

But as I have to decide vor one, I thought I will give it to Vero M
http://verom.canalblog.com/
I know she and her blog are well known in the "stitching world", but her blog was the first stitching blog I discovered, and she was the person who inspirated me to start a blog also! And she's such a kind and helpful stitching friend.
So I'll pass this award to Vero M and her

Maybe some of you remember that I started drawing and stitching an Austrian Spot Sampler.

I think it's about five years ago that I started with this project. I wanted to create a sampler by myself which is influenced by the traditional stitching style in our region but I wanted to create all the spots by myself so that it will become my special sampler.

At the beginning I really thought that will become much more easier to be satisfied with the result. So I drew and stitched and drew again ..........and again. Some of my friends say I'm too much a perfectionist, that's my fault but I can't work without being 100% satisfied. So sometimes I put this project away and thought I never will continue working on it.

But finally I finished the drawing and charted it and now I want to finish it without interruption. There is meeting of a craft assocation in autumn and for this I want to finish it, to frame it and maybe to show it when I'll like.

I'm telling you that, because maybe I'll not post very much the next time and I really hope I'll reach this goal. So please wish me luck and maybe I'll get some comments from time to time, because without contact to my stitching friends, the stitching is only half the fun :-)!!

Not much stitching at the moment!! The weather is really too lovely and the sun is shining too bright so I really want to spend the most of my free time outside on the lake or in the garden !!

But I want to make an inventory of my stitching smalls I stitched and I got in exchanges. I really have a great preference for stitching smalls, and after I showed you my pin cushion collection http://romyaustria.over-blog.com/article-6757986.html here's my needle case collection so far!

This weekend I found some time to finish the summer sampler by Chessie & Me. It really was a fun and fast stitching. I like the look of over two, over one and specialty stitches like French Knotes, Satin Stitches, Four Sided Stitches and some more. It's stitched on 32 count linen with DMC and Old Willow Design Threads.

Now I have to decied what to stitch next. I'm really in the mood to start another little house. Let's see ??!!

Here are some close ups of the summe house!

Now it's summer time and I thought it would be nice to start a little summer stitching. I choose the Summer Sampler by Chessie&Me. It's a nice and funny stitching. Most of the design is stitched in cross stitch and smyrna cross stitch. There are little parts of satin stitch and one over one cross stitch. So there is everything I like on a design.

Maybe you are familir with this, the design calls for some speciality threads and I have tons of silk and overdied threads but never the threads the deisgn calls for.

First I thought I have to order the threads, but when I looked through my stash I found some Old Willow Stitcher Threads which I really liked for this Summer House. My Summer Sampler now will look quite different, but I'm really pleased how it comes along. Here's my progress so far:

I was participating in several exchanges some time ago. It always was a lot of fun to get in contact to other stitchers and I also learned a lot in this exchanges. Not only I met new stitching friends, I also learned a lot of different finishing only looking on the beautiful exchange pieces I got in return.

Here are some of the pieces I stitched for exchanges.

I always was fascinated from Merry Cox designs. I never had the chance to take a class, but I always tried to buy this charts on ebay or from friends who took the classes. So I got a nice collection of Merry Cox charts. I know this charts aren´t easy to finish without taking the class, and I don´t know if I ever will be able to finish them. But I absolutely love them, so I´ll try and give my best :-)!

Unfortunately I only stitched the Birds and Berries needlecase till now back in 2005.

But now I pulled out the Birds and Berries companion pieces, and started stitching the Birds and Berries pincushion. Hopefully soon my new Merry cox piece will be finished.
